Know how to write a check?

Filling out a blank cheque seems like it should be a simple process. However, in age of debit cards, automatic teller machines and on-line banking, the need to write cheques is disappearing. There are still places where cash or cheque is the only accepted form of payment; housing rentals being a key example.

  1. Write the date on the cheque.
  2. Fill in the name of the payee (to whom the payment has to be made) next to “Pay."
  3. Fill the amount of the cheque.
  4. Cross the cheque.
  5. Rectify your mistake in case you enter wrong date, name or amount on your cheque.
  6. Sign the cheque properly at the bottom right corner.
