It just seems to be that when it comes to a credit card and the average American, no matter how much that person may try to avoid high interest rates, late payment, or overdrawn charges, he or she with inevitably run into a billing issue with the company that issues them a card and they will find themselves in a rut trying to fix the problem.
Think about carrying your plastic in a separate wallet/purse from your cash
Always try to keep an eye on your card during a transaction.
Save ALL receipts and check them off against your monthly statement
Try to get a credit card where you can manage your details online then you can quickly discover any fraud problems
If the shop or restaurant uses the old style carbon type payment slips make sure the carbon is ripped up
Open and check bills that you receive through the post at once, if there is a problem then contact the card company at once
Be especially wary of paying bills in Chinese Restaurants.

Lend your card to anyone
Leave your cards and/or receipts lying around
Sign your Card without drawing lines through any spaces on a payment slip where digits can be added when you’ve left
Give your credit card number over the phone unless YOU start the call.
Never fill in your credit card number on any email that you receive unlessYOU started the email correspondence first, but even then it's often a better idea to make a telephone call
