  1. Avoid late-night snacks, particularly if they're high in sugars and starches. 
  2. DO eat a high-protein snack several hours before you go to bed. 
  3. With your high-protein snack, eat one small piece of fruit such as half an apple or a small handful of berries.  
  4. Make your bedroom as dark as possible at night.  
  5. Don't watch TV before bedtime. 
  6. Wear socks to bed. Studies have shown that your feet have the poorest circulation in your body and thus get cold first.  
  7. Keep your bedroom no warmer than 70-72.  
  8. Avoid caffeine not just in the evening, but anytime after lunch. 
  9. Treat yourself to a hot soak in the tub or a hot shower before bed.

  11. Don't eat foods you're sensitive to for dinner.
  12. Use your bed only for sleeping and sex.
