Plan a Green and Cheap New Year's Eve Party

lifehacker lifehacker - 11 months ago

  • seating for your guests is to borrow from your neighbors.
  • Keep it simple and free with an e-vite or e-card.
  • Tell guests to "Bring Your Own Bubbly" (box o' wine or Beaujolais too!) to share the cost of the shindig.
  • To spice up your place on the (green) cheap, try biodegradable crepe paper streamersrecycled rubber star coasters and soy candles to set the mood.
  • Your guests will probably be coming later in the evening, so you don't need to serve a big meal — appetizers and desserts should do the trick.
  • When the last drop of champagne has been drunk, you might need to give your guests another form of hydration.
  • You've started the new year in a way that's kinder to the Earth and your pocketbook.
