Mount Everest, the crown of the Himalayas, is a sacred peak, revered by the Sherpas who live in the villages nestled in the valleys far below. Everest is known to the Sherpas as Chomlungma, "Goddess Mother of The World."
Gangrenboqi is located on the west of Tibet. It earned the reputation of the third highest point in the world because its average elevation is above 4,500 meters. Gangrenboqi Sacred Mountain (elevation of 6,656 meters) was labeled as the first sacred mountain by Tibetan nationality. Gangrenboqi Mountain peak is often surrounded by white cloud and is very difficult to get a glimpse of its true looks.
Mount Tai is located in the central part of Shandong Province. Mount Tai, Mount Hua, Mount Heng(衡山), Mount Heng(恒山) and Mount Song together are called "the Five Mountains", while Mount Tai has always been considered as the first of the Five Mountains. It stretches across Jinan, Changqing, Licheng and Taian, with a total area of 426 square kilometers. The main peak lies in Taian, 1,545 meters above sea level. Mount Tai was a mountain for worship by emperors of different dynasties, and also the only famous mountain in history that was qualified to accept the emperors' offerings. Eminent ancient scholars, masters and poets all yearned for it. Confucius, Sima Qian, Li Bai, Du Fu, Su Shi, Song Lian, Yao Nai and others all visited the mountain, leaving plenty of cultural relics behind.
Mt. Emei is located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It is towering, beautiful, old and mysterious. Mt. Emei is like a huge green screen standing in the southwest of the Chengdu Plain. Looking its winding and beautiful figure, you will find that it resembles very much an eyebrow of a girl. It is the highest one among all the famous sight-seeing mountains in China. In Mt. Emei there are four scenic regions: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit. Its main peak, the Golden Summit, is 3079.3 meters (10,103 feet) above the sea level, seemingly reaching the sky. Standing on the top of it, you can enjoy the snowy mountains in the west and the vast plain in the east. In addition in Golden Summit there are four spectacles: clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha rays and saint lamps. In 1996 Mt. Emei was enlisted in the world natural and cultural heritage by the UNESCO.
